Cleaning Your Media Filter - Backwashing
Turn the pool system completely OFF, via the chlorinator, dosing system or controller.
Push down on the handle and turn the handle from FILTER mode into BACKWASH mode.

Turn the pool system ON for roughly 1 to 2 minutes; if the pool is really dirty, you may need longer. (4 minutes)

Turn the pool system OFF.
Push down on the handle and turn it into RINSE mode.
With the handle locked in the RINSE position, turn the pool system ON and run this for 30 - 40 seconds, or until the sight glass on the side of the Filter Valve is clear.

Turn the pool system OFF.
Push down on the handle and turn the handle back into FILTER mode.

Turn the pool system ON, and you have cleaned/ backwashed your filter.
It is recommended that the media be cleaned with FILTER CLEANER at the start and end of every season. This will break down and assist with the removal of oils and fats caught in the media.
Look to change the media in your filter (pending water quality)
Every 3 to 5 years for SAND media
Every 7 to 10 years for GLASS media
